Winners of the 34th GLAAD Awards
The 34th GLAAD Media Awards was presented to honor the 2022 media season in the United States on March 30th in Los Angeles and May 13th in New York City.
GLAAD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance against Defamation, is an American organization that protests defamatory coverage of gay, lesbian, and transgender demographics in media.
The GLAAD Media Awards celebrate films, television shows, video games, musicians, and works of journalism that accurately represent the LGBTQ+ community.
2023 sparked some new changes for the GLAAD Awards, mainly the introduction of two new categories, Outstanding Podcast and Outstanding Live TV Journalism. They also split the Outstanding Reality Program category into Outstanding Reality Program and Outstanding Reality Program – Competition.
Additionally, the Outstanding Kids and Family Programming category was split into Animated and Live Action Categories.
Nominees for the GLAAD Awards were announced on 18 January 2023 by RuPaul’s Drag Race stars Sasha Colby and Salina EsTitties. The first round of winners was announced in Los Angeles on March 30th.
The star-studded event in Los Angeles was hosted by Emmy and Grammy nominated comedian and actress Margaret Cho. The event also featured a musical performance of the song “Becky’s So Hot” by Fletcher.
