The Slick Showreels Award winners will be announced next week! We are very excited about our jury this year, which includes Oscar® and BAFTA winners, casting directors from Amazon and Marvel productions, and most recently a BAFTA nominee in Yasmin Afifi, announced as a nominee for this year’s upcoming BAFTA’s. Yasmin is a perfect example of the industry professionals that we pride ourselves in connecting with our nominees and winners through the awards. Keep your eyes peeled for the announcement!

Showreel client Rachel Shenton Joins Renny Harlin’s ‘The Strangers’ Remake for Lionsgate. The Oscar® winner and ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ star plays the sister to lead Madelaine Petsch’s character in the film trilogy reboot.

Gold Client Nathan Collin’s stars in 3 episodes of Apple TV+ limited drama series “Masters of the Air,” the third instalment in Steven Spielberg’s “Band of Brothers” / ”The Pacific” WWII saga. Based on the nonfiction book “Masters of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany” by Donald L. Miller, the nine-episode limited series follows the story of the Eighty Air Force (aka the “Mighty Eighth”) who brought the war to Hitler’s doorstep.

Client Mike O rained at Guildford School of acting. He recently signed with Kirk Whelan-Foran at United Agents.

Showreel Client’s Tom and Ross filmed a 3 scene showreel together just before graduating from Guildford school of acting. Since then, they turned their hand to writing and making their own short film called ROY. Which was produced by Slick Films in association with Floodlight Pictures during the pandemic. Last week it was announced that Roy was on the long-list for the 2022 BAFTA’s. We have eveything crossed for the nomination.

Gold showreel client Cassian Bilton stars in the mega new series Foundation, Apple’s latest smash it. Cassian plays Brother Dawn alongside Lee pace and Terrence Mann. The sci-fi epic is based on the novels by Isaac Asimov.

Showreel clients Sophia Eleni played the role of Maria Kaufopolous, a feisty, young Greek Cypriot woman, in the Christmas special of Call The Midwife. The episode, which aired on Christmas Day on BBC One, followed several mums-to-be as they go into labour over the festive season. The show recently celebrated its 10 year anniversary. What a time to join the show. Bravo Sophia!

The fan favourite show has grown a considerable following and is a smash hit in America too. Variety released an article announcing the show will have a 3rd and 4th series. Rachel Shenton plays Helen Alderson and has famously quoted that she purposefully never watched the original series but gained her research from reading the books. Smart move Rachel.

Jack Shalloo looks rather excited here and who can blame him, he’s currently appearing in the critically acclaimed Netflix series Stay Close, which ranked number 1 worldwide as of January 9th 2022. Jack stars alongside Cush Jumbo, Richard Armitage and James Nesbit.

Yinka Awoni’s The Stranger on Netflix is still showing but he recently appeared in the show everyone is talking about. Michaela Coel’s hit show, I May Destroy You. The show has received huge critical acclaim for dealing with such diverse subject matters and Yinka plays the wayward father.

Oscar® winner Rachel Shenton’s Netflix show White Gold is still showing but she has a new exciting role… the remake of the 80’s classic, All Creatures Great and Small. Rachel plays the female lead Helen Alderson. The show also stars Sam West, Anna Madeley, Nicholas Ralph and Callum Woodhouse.

Craig Conway was born in 1975 in South Shields. He has a nice cameo as a news reporter in the new hit Apple+ show, Ted Lasso. Craig is also known for Doomsday (2008), Dog Soldiers (2002) and Broken (2016). He’s the type of actor that never stops working.

Varada Sethu was born in Benton, Newcastle and has quickly made a name for herself landing parts in some great shows. She’s appeared in Now You See Me 2, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and New Blood, as well as playing Aisha alongside Emmy Award winner Jodie Comer in the hit TV drama, Doctor Foster. You can see Verada right now on Sky One’s hit show Strike Back in its final series.

Yinka Awoni is currently appearing in Netflix Original series The Stranger alongside Richard Armitage and Anthony Head. As private investigator Peter Ince. A secret destroys a man’s perfect life and sends him on a collision course with a deadly conspiracy in this shocking thriller. Yinka is also currently appearing on BAFTA award winning series On The Edge – BBW on Channel 4, BBC Doctors ‘Still Lives’ and BAFTA winning actress Michaela Coel’s highly anticipated new drama series January 22nd airing late 2020 on BBC and HBO. Academy Award® winning writer and actress Rachel Shenton can be seen in BBC’s series two of White Gold. She plays Jo Scott the new boss of Cachet Windows – something which doesn’t go down too well with the men in the firm. Rachel has also just completed another 80’s hit show which is being remade. She is starring as the female lead in the much anticipated All Creatures Great and Small. You can catch White Gold on Netflix now.

The folk song “I Am a Poor Wayfaring Stranger” was performed by Jos Slovick in the BAFTA and Academy Award® winning film 1917, directed by Sam Mendes. The a cappella version of the song was recorded by Jos and filmed at Abbey Road Studios in London. “I Am a Poor Wayfaring Stranger” arrives in the wake of Thomas Newman’s critically acclaimed score for 1917. Towards the end of the film, actor Jos Slovick appears as a British soldier singing the song to his fellow troops prior to battle. Of the release, Slovick says, “1917 is an incredible film to be part of. It felt like a special moment when we filmed that scene, and I’m so pleased it’s resonating with people. Recording the song at Abbey Road Studios was a dream come true.”

You might recognise Gregg Chillin from Being Human, where he played the ex-boyfriend of Lenora Crichlow’s poltergeist character Annie and Da Vinci’s Demons, where he played Zoroaster da Peretola. Gregg has been filming in Venice for Sky One’s A Discovery of Witches and it was recently announced that season two will go in to production later in the year.

Jack Shalloo is a real veteran to the industry and he’s only in his 30’s. He never stops working. You can currently see him across multiple platforms in White Gold, White House Farm, London Kills as well as a lovely cameo in the BAFTA and Academy Award® wining film 1917. If you’re not sure where to start with Jack, perhaps try his latest role in Belgravia which is a story centred around the Trenchard family. Jack plays the part of Morris, one of the “light relief of downstairs” in his own words.
